July 2018 Water Workshop and Trial
July 20, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

A one-day water trial will be held in accordance with the provisions of the current Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (PWDCA) water trial manual and updates, copies of which may be downloaded at no charge from the PWDCA website.
Schedule for the trial day on Sunday is:
The trial schedule for the day starts with Juniors through Masters.
8:00 AM: Check-in and equipment checks (all dogs; Juniors and Apprentice first, followed by Working, Courier, and Masters)
8:30 AM: Briefing for Juniors
9:00 AM: Trial starts with the first Junior dog
New for 2018, the new Working Water Dog Excellent (WWDX) title has been approved! Dogs with three Working Water Dog (WWD) qualifying scores (Qs) in two different locations and under two different judges can earn WWDX. This new, optional titling level is not retroactive, and at least two of the Qs must be earned in 2018 or later. So bring out your Working Water dogs and take the leap towards your WWDX title!
The trial will be held at Nolte State Park, Enumclaw, WA on July 22, 2018. Judge is Cynthia McCullough. All levels from Junior to Master are offered.
- Lottery Date: Lottery deadline is Friday June 1, 2018. All Regular entries received by the lottery deadline will be treated equally. If entry limit is exceeded by June 1, a random drawing will be held June 2, 2018. Remaining entries, if any, will be drawn for wait-list position.
- Close Date: Trial closing date is Friday June 29, 2018. All entries received after June 1 up to closing date will be accepted on a first-come basis as space is available.
Day-of-trial entries may be accepted if time permits. Contact Amanda Ford to check on availability in advance.

Water Workshop
Our format this year will be a bit different with four consecutive half-day sessions, each concentrating on a different level.
New this year will be an Introduction to Water Work session tailored to those who have no experience in water work but are interested to learn more about the sport and how to get started. This session could also be appropriate for more experienced handlers with very young puppies 4-6 months of age. Other levels offered are Apprentice/Working and Working/Courier classes, as well as one that concentrates on the new Master Water Dog level.
IMPORTANT: the Introduction to Water Work class on Friday morning is full with a wait list. Auditing is an excellent alternative, so please plan to attend as an auditor. For more information on the wait list or on auditing, please contact Amanda Ford.

Friday, July 20, 2018: Intro & AWD/WWD
- The Introduction to Water Work class and the AWD/WWD session will both be held on Friday July 20. The park can be very busy on the weekends and we want to keep distractions to a minimum for the younger dogs.
- The Intro session will be held Friday morning (Full) when the park is quiet, and the AWD/WWD session will be Friday afternoon.

Each session will be a half day. Participating teams are limited to 10 per session. All auditors are welcome. Participating teams may sign up for more than one session if it is appropriate to their ability.
Participating teams at each level are invited and encouraged to audit the other the other session the same day at no additional charge. It will especially help those working at the lower level to audit the advanced session in order to visualize higher-level training goals and techniques. For more information contact Amanda Ford.

Volunteers for Workshop and Trial
Water Work is labor intensive and we need plenty of volunteers for both the workshop and trial. You do not need to be entered in either event in order to volunteer. No experience is necessary, and the schedule will be set to avoid any conflicts with your entries. Please complete the volunteer form and submit with your trial and workshop entries.
