***IMPORTANT TRIAL UPDATE***
PNWPWDC Flowing Lake water trial will be held September 10-12, 2021 at Flowing Lake County Park, Snohomish WA. Judges are Sarah Kahn (Friday) and Lauren McDermott (Saturday/Sunday).
Entries for the trial were huge, with close to 120 entry days for the weekend. We can accommodate about 30 dogs per day. Friday was converted from a set-up/practice day to an additional trial day in order to accommodate as many entries as possible. Teams were assigned by random draw, first to the Saturday/Sunday trials, and then to the Friday overflow day. Even with the extra day we have a significant waitlist of entries.
PWDCA rules prohibit use of one judge for more than two trial days per year, and Sarah Kahn generously agreed to judge the extra Friday trial. Lauren McDermott will judge Saturday and Sunday.
This three-day water trial will be held in accordance with the provisions of the current Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (PWDCA) water trial manual and updates, copies of which may be downloaded at no charge from the PWDCA website.
The Friday Practice Session has been cancelled and all practice entry fees will be automatically refunded. You do not need to request a refund for your practice entry fee.
Trial entry information
Trial Entry Limits And Friday Trial Day
As expected, huge entries required addition of Friday as a trial day. If you cannot make your Friday trial spot, you may request to withdraw and receive a refund by Aug 21.
Trial Entries By Canadian Teams
As of now, the US border is closed through August 21. This happens to be the trial closing date as well. We expect that there will be an announcement about the ongoing border status well before Aug 21, so we should know about Canadian access by the trial closing date. Any Canadian entries can then be withdrawn by midnight on Aug 21 for a full refund. If the timing of an opening announcement varies, we may modify this cutoff to a later date.
Trial entry dates to remember
Lottery Date: Lottery deadline is Saturday July 31, 2021. The lottery date has passed. You may still submit an entry until the closing date, but it is unlikely that there will be space in the trial
Closing Date: Trial closing date is Saturday August 21, 2021. All entries received after July 31 up to closing date will be accepted on a first-come basis as space is available. Entry fee is $45 per class.
Water Work is labor intensive and we need plenty of volunteers for the trial, including set-up on Thursday afternoon and tear-down on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately we have been forced to cancel the practice session in order to add an extra trial day (you will receive an automatic refund of your practice entry fees.) We still need lots of volunteers to make the trial happen, and will send out a regular volunteer schedule with the run order information after closing.
Show your support for the PNWPWDC water trial program by sponsoring a trophy for our Flowing Lake Trial. Your name and trophy dedication will appear in the trial catalog. Every donation directly supports PNWPWDC water trials – thank you!
Our very first water trial was in 1991, so 2021 is the 30th anniversary of the PNWPWDC water trial program! To mark this momentous year (and our return to the water after a disappointing 2020) we have a commemorative T-shirt available. Many thanks to Lauren McDermott for doing the graphics to make the idea work.
***UPDATE_ T shirt orders are closed. There may be a few available at the trial.

This is followed by two days of water trials on Saturday and Sunday July 17-18 with our PNW judge Suzanne Malick.

Purchase and pick up at the trial, or shipping is available for extra cost. We’ll have Ship’s Locker merchandise available to support the club as well.

Local accommodations in Enumclaw are limited, and always fill up during summer weekends, so if you even think you want a hotel room be sure to book right away.
Our usual hotel option in Enumclaw is the Rodeway Inn, 1334 Roosevelt Ave E, next to the Expo center. Phone is 360-825-1626. We have blocked 5 rooms for Friday July 16th and Saturday July 17th that are available only until July 1. All rooms are 2 queen beds and NO smoking.
Rate is $135 + tax per night, with a $5 per dog per night. PLEASE bring sheets/blankets to cover beds and couch. That’s why we got $5 fee rather than $10 per night.
Call hotel to reserve one of the 5 rooms. Talk to Robert (if you can). 360-825-1626, then “0”. Reservation is under PNW — short for PNWPWDC. Tell them you want to book a room under that reservation.
Robert said that they do keep track of people and groups that leave the rooms a mess after having lots of dogs in them and will not take a reservation for them again. So, as we always have been, please be a good guest and keep the rooms and grounds clean. Thank goodness for non-shedding dogs!
The other hotel option in Enumclaw is Guest House, 1000 Griffen Ave, Enumclaw. Phone is 360-825-4490. There are a few rooms left for that weekend, so if you prefer that option call ASAP.
Additional information and trial details will be posted as available.
